How it's done
During your first visit to the dentist, your tooth will be reshaped and impressions will be taken to create a crown. Some of your tooth will need to be removed to ensure a proper fit. The dentist will then use a special material to make an impression of your tooth, which will be sent to a dental laboratory to create a permanent crown. Before you leave, a temporary crown will be placed on your tooth to protect it until your next visit.
On your return visit, the dentist will have received the permanent crown from the laboratory. The temporary crown will be removed and the new permanent crown will be fitted. The dentist will ensure that the permanent crown fits comfortably and matches the color of your teeth before cementing it in place.
