Composite Fillings

The dentist will remove the decayed part of your tooth and replace it with another substance, known as a filling, when treating a cavity.

Composite fillings, also called tooth-colored fillings, can closely match the color of your teeth. They are durable for small to medium cavities and require less removal of the tooth compared to amalgam fillings. Composite fillings are especially suitable for front or visible teeth due to their natural appearance.

Composite filling uses

  • Decayed tooth (cavity)
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Reducing the gap between teeth

How its done

After the dentist administers local anesthesia to numb the area, they will proceed to remove any decayed portions. To enhance the bonding process, a substance will be applied to open up the pores of your teeth, which will then be hardened and cured using a special light. The filling will be applied in thin layers, gradually forming a complete filling. Once the composite has hardened, the dentist will smooth and polish it to ensure comfort and a proper bite alignment.
